Firebird FAQs

Come to the Festival prepared. Please read the FAQs below. Some of our most asked questions to help you enjoy your Firebird experience.

  • When is the Firebird Festival?
    The 20th annual Firebird Festival will take place on Saturday, December 9th, 2023! The bird lights at 8:00 pm.
  • What is the exact location of the Firebird Festival?
    The Firebird Festival will be held at: Veteran's Memorial Park 194 Mowere Road Phoenixville, PA 19460 GPS Coordinates: 40.138384, -75.530792
  • How do I get to the Festival?
    There are a few options to get to the Festival: WALKING Join the procession of drummers and revelers led by Henrik! Starting at the Eco Store on 252 Bridge Street, the processsion will walk from Bridge Street to Gay Street and under the Bridge along the path to the Phoenixville Foundry then along the Schulykill River Trail to the Festival site. If walking via trail, once you arrive at Mowere Road, be sure to walk in the pedestrian lane, do not walk in the emergency vehicle, service vehicle lane. BUS The 2023 Firebird Festival will have 3 bus stops available on December 9, 2023. The buses will begin shuttling people to the Festival site beginning at 6:00 pm and run continuously until 11:00 pm. ​ Bus service from each location to the Firebird Festival is a complimentary service. Please wait for the buses on the sidewalks in each area. DO NOT WAIT IN THE STREET. Times are not guaranteed but we will do our best to keep the flow and ensure safe and free transportation. Bus stops are located at Borough Hall Parking Lot - Rules and fees of the Borough apply. Phoenixville Recreation Center - This is not a paid lot but follow signage. Holy Ghost Orthodox Church - There will be a suggested donation. More information and map is available here. DRIVING There is NO GENERAL PARKING at the Festival site. There will be a few spots for handicap parking but Mowere Road will be closed and you will need to show your handicap placard to the police to gain entry. We encourage you to take the free buses we've arranged.
  • Can I bring my dog or pet to the Firebird Festival?
    No. Sorry! Due to the crowd size and outdoor food booths we ask you leave your pets at home. Service dogs are allowed with proper documentation.
  • How much does it cost to attend the Firebird Festival?
    The festival is FREE to enter for all ages. However, there are serious costs involved in putting together our Festival. We can only put on this event and keep it free with your support. You can help keep our bird burning year after year by donating here!
  • What is the expected weather?
    The Firebird Festival is an outdoor event with no on-site access to indoor shelter. Please familiarize yourself with the weather anticipated for the Festival date and plan/dress accordingly.
  • What food will be served at the Firebird Festival?
    There will be a variety of food vendors in attendance at the Firebird Festival. Please plan on supporting the vendors in our Festival Village. Attendees are also encouraged to dine at any of the restaurants within downtown Phoenixville and surrounding areas.
  • Is there an age restriction to attend the Firebird Festival?
    There are no age restrictions to attend the Firebird Festival. The festival is FREE to enter for all ages.
  • How can I get involved and volunteer?
    There are many ways to get involved with the Festival---from helping with the build to volunteering the day of the event! Check out the details on this page to learn more.

  • Can I purchase alcoholic beverages at the Festival or bring alcohol?
    NO. Alcoholic beverages are forbidden at Veteran's Memorial Park.
  • Where do I park my car?
    Mowere Road will be closed to traffic the day of the Festival from 4 pm to 11 pm. We advise parking your car in town and joining the procession from the Phoenixville Foundry along the trail to the Festival site. We will also have free buses shuttling around town.   • Are there any organized shuttles?
    Yes! We will have FREE shuttle buses available from downtown Phoenixville. Bus stops are located at Borough Hall Parking Lot - Rules and fees of the Borough apply.   • What roads are closed for the Firebird Festival?
    Mowere Road will be closed starting at 4 pm between Township Line Road and the corner of St. Mary's and High Street. Only shuttles and those requiring handicap parking will be allowed through.
  • What time do the shuttles run until?
    The shuttles will run from 6:oo pm to 11:00 pm.
  • Is handicap parking available at the Festival?
    Yes there will be approximately 12 handicap parking spots. Please note you must show your handicap placard to police and security. Also, while parking is available the field itself is not fully accessible. There is NOT a paved path to the bird or around the Festival Village.
  • Do I need to sign a waiver in order to help build the Firebird?
    Yes. The waiver is available here.
  • Do you accept donations of building materials?
    Yes! Please email Phoenixvillefirebird@gmail.com
  • Who builds the Firebird?
    Our community comes together under the guidance of master builders to create the Phoenix.
  • Can I volunteer to help build the Firebird?
    Absolutely! Please just show up at Veteran's Memorial Park any Saturday or Sunday from 10 am until dusk. We build up until December 9. If you would like to volunteer during the Festival, please go here to sign up.
  • Is the Firebird Festival rain or shine?
    Yes! This is a rain or shine event. Given the nature of the event, if weather conditions such as strong wind or heavy snow would make the Firebird Festival dangerous, organizers may be forced to cancel the event. Any cancelations will be published on the Firebird Festival Facebook Page and also at the Firebird website.
  • What happens if the Firebird Festival is canceled due to weather conditions?
    The Firebird Festival is a rain or shine event. Given the nature of the event, if weather conditions such as strong wind or heavy snow would make the Firebird Festival dangerous, organizers may be forced to cancel the event. Any cancelations will be published on the Firebird Festival Facebook Page and also at the Firebird website. The event DOES NOT have a rain date, if a cancellation occurs, please look to the Firebird Facebook page and website for additional details.
